Priceline Hotel: Help with Bid

I want to stay in Manhattan from 10/7-10/11. I'd rather stay away from UES and UWS. Also, don't want to stay in LIC, Brooklyn, Queens, etc.

Would like to stay around $130 plus tax. 3 star hotel. Do you think it's possible? Please help.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to be realistic for these dates. With HOTWIRE rates for these dates at around $225-275 for these dates for 3*'s, I'm guessing a 3* will take at least $160-180 and possibly higher.

We would of course suggest a strategy which started lower, but based upon current rates i'd venture a guess that you're likely looking in the $175-$200 area.

thereuare, I noticed you're from hoboken. how are the hotels there? I saw one listed on HOTWIRE but wasn't sure about the location.

The hotels in the Hoboken-Jersey City along the waterfront are great as they provide easy access to NYC via PATH, although you do lose the 'vibe' of staying in NYC. However, if you're budget is still ~$130/nite for these nites your budget will likely fall short for this area as well.

Yes, I'm flying into town from JFK. i've been to NYC 4-5 times already so staying outside is not a problem. But I don't want to deal with waiting for a bus or anything. i can deal with the subway. i arrive on the 7th at 6AM. leaving at 8PM on the 11th.

I'm actually going to up by bid to $160 a night. Is that reasonable? 2.5 or 3 star. I don't really need anything fancy. just a place to sleep.

Based upon current prices, if you include Downtown in your bidding you might have a chance... but i don't think $160 has a high probability of success in Midtown. You can, and should try, but i think the odds are less then 50/50.

Let us know if you are willing to pay more for a 3* vs. a 2.5* OR if your goal is the least expensive 2.5* or better for this stay, as well as which zones you're willing to accept, we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

i guess i'll shoot for the least expensive 2.5 for now. zones are still the same. pretty much anywhere but outside manhattan. no brooklyn, queens, LIC, etc.

Earlier you posted that you don't want UES or UWS, but these are within Manhattan... to avoid any confusion please list the names of the PRICELINE zones you are willing to accept (rather than the ones you won't)
