trthazmat Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Hello board. I'd like to say this board is really unbelievable in all ways. The multitude of abundant help and posts is wonderful. I was wondering if I can get a bidding strategy for 11/25 Thursday (Thanksgiving) and 11/26 Friday night checking out Saturday in Manhattan. My desire would be MTW, CPS and TS. I definitely do not want to stay anywhere near the financial district. I just really am not sure even after reading the help section as to whether or not I add all acceptable zones at once or add one by one with the suspect zones. Any help would be great or I just take a stab with trial and error, which worked for me on Halloween weekend.Thanks.
thereuare Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Please update your Priceline NYC thread with the results of any bidding or decision you have made for that stay, then...Reply to thread indicating your expected budget per nite (before fees and taxes) for this stay. Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. trthazmat Posted August 22, 2010 Author Report Posted August 22, 2010 Yes, my goal is to have the least expensive 3.5* or better. My goal is to stay below $180 per night due to all the extra curricular activities while I am in town. I will absolutely update my thread and post any winning bids. Can I please get a clear answer as to whether or not I should place all acceptable zones in at once? What are the free rebid zones exactly? At what point do I add zones and bids? I don't wish to sound off based but I just can't really follow the logic, it seems like a mind block. Thanks to those that can answer and be well.
thereuare Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Please update your Priceline NYC thread with the results of any bidding or decision you have made for that stay, then...This stay is separate from your other NYC Hotel thread, correct? Have you tried any bidding for that stay as per the strategy suggested/posted in that thread? Please update that thread accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.... please click this PRICELINE link before replying. trthazmat Posted August 23, 2010 Author Report Posted August 23, 2010 I updated that thread with my winning bid, in which someone took my post and put in the new winning bids forum. That was a winning bid for the Marriott East at $200 a night. I did not use the strategy since I was unable to access the site that evening due to a internet explorer page display error.Thanks.
thereuare Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Can I please get a clear answer as to whether or not I should place all acceptable zones in at once?It depends upon the range we determine for your bidding. Once you have re-bidding understood (see below) we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. What are the free rebid zones exactly?... I don't wish to sound off based but I just can't really follow the logic, it seems like a mind block. You need to know how to determine these yourself as they can change at any time, and therefore should be checked before every bidding cycle. Assuming you have seen this Priceline Re-Bidding Explained thread, we'll try to break it down further for you...1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter New York City and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region.3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest tar rating offered n the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from therePlease use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. If you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further.
