zloty33 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Looking for 3.5 star or 4 star in Niagara Falls, Ontario , Aug 21, one night 2 people. What should the bidding start at?? I went 130-140-150-155 and got nothing. What about a 3 star? Went upto $140 (excluding St.Cath-Thorold area, don't want that), got nothing. Thanks
thereuare Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 My guess is that you'll need another $20-$30 or so on top of each of your bids above to be successful at each star level.Alternately, HOTWIRE has the Crowne Plaza Fallsview listed as 'non-opaque' (you see the name before you purchase) for $185/nite which is just a bit more then you have already bidLet know if you're willing to increase your maximum bid and how you'd like to proceed and we'll suggest a strategy accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. zloty33 Posted August 19, 2010 Author Report Posted August 19, 2010 The Crowne Plaza is available for $190 Canadian on Expedia.ca, aft tax $220 Cdn. The Hotwire price aft tax is $215 US or $225 Cdn. A bid of $155 US on Priceline is $187 US aft tax or just under $200 Cdn. That is how I came up with my max bid of $155 US on Priceline. Adding $20-$30 would put me way over the price available on Expedia, was hoping to get some dollars off of the readily available internet price. Thanks
thereuare Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 The HOTWIRE rate i quoted thru HOTWIRE above is for a "non-opaque" listing, meaning they show the name of the hotel before purchase. They offer a retail listings when then have no inventory for an 'opaque' hotel at the star rating and zone for the dates searched. In other words, all the rates we're both quoting above are the same, just using different currency conversions, but the important factor is that HOTWIRE has no "opaque" inventory for these dates which means that PRICELINE might not either. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
