dctravel Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Hi,I have never used priceline before and will be visiting from the UK, but a friend in US will be bidding. Looking for hotel near the sights, so Capitol Hill or White House. Help me out with a strategy please. Also, is a credit card required, or will a US debit card (Visa) work? Thanks
thereuare Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages.Regarding your questions above, as long as the debit card has the Visa logo it can be used to bid. At chek-in you'll need a credit or debit card for incidentals, and with a debit card some of the funds may be put on hold and not be available for use during your trip.If you let us know your maximum bid we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Also, rates don't look high for your dates, depending upon your maximum bid, did you want to try for a 4*first up to your limit OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Lastly, did you want to also include the Dupont Circle-Embassy Row zone, as that is often bid in the DC area as well... would this zone work for your plans or do you want to stick with only the Capitol Hill and White House zones? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (and please ask your friend who will be doing the bidding to stop by here and use the links to begin) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
dctravel Posted August 19, 2010 Author Report Posted August 19, 2010 Thanks for your response.Regarding the security deposit/incidentals - how much will a hotel normally hold, and how soon after checking out will this be refunded?Maximum bid would be $70 - happy with getting 3.5* cheaper. Sticking with Capitol Hill and White House Zones. Thanks
