I'm trying to get a room for 8/27-8/29 in downtown Chicago in either the Loop or the North Michigan Ave./Magnificent Mile area, preferably 4*.

I started with 4* at $80. Rejected

Then added 3.5* at $75. Rejected

I think I might wait until tomorrow when I can just bid up to $90 or so. Any suggestions? Are two nights worse than one night?

I tried to do this on 8/13-8/15 as well and struck out so many times that it was cheaper to use another site (I booked the Hyatt Regency for $120 at easyclicktravel.com). I was bidding on Priceline up to $110 and kept losing. Am I doing something wrong?

Just tried $105 for Chicago, NMA/River North, Millennium Park/Loop, 4*

Rejected, but asked if I wanted to up my bid instantly by $20 to $125. It looks like I am getting close, since I started bidding around $90 a week ago. I may try to bid up to $110 or $115 tomorrow and see what happens.

I have been shopping for this weekend (8/27-29) for a few weeks now, and kept getting rejected. Today, I did the following

4* Chicago Millennium Park/Loop, NMA/River North $105- Rejected, but allowed an immediate rebid at $125

3.5* Chicago Millennium Park/Loop, NMA/River North $90- Accepted, Allegro Hotel (Kimpton) at West Randolph and Lasalle.
