Hotwire Hotel: NYC 12/28-12/30 Help

Can anyone tell me how high of a season these days are? I know New Years will be incredibly expensive but I'm hoping that the days between Christmas and New Years won't be as bad (or is this just wishful thinking?) We want to see a show on Broadway, see the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, etc so right now I'm leaning towards MTE or MTW so we don't have a long subway ride and walk late at night. DH would prefer quiet and I would prefer busy so are these good choices or are there other suggestions on where to stay that will keep the room prices a little lower (preferably under $190/nt all in) and still be in a good (and safe) location?

I found a room on HOTWIRE in MTE for $134/nt. 3.5 stars, fitness, restaurant, business and internet. 85% recommended. Any idea what this hotel is?

12/26-30 are not as busy, although the night of 12/30 becomes much busier and NYE is quite expensive.

The 3.5* may be the Roosevelt, Doubletree Met or possibly the Hilton Manhattan East.

MTE and MTW should be fine, as would CPS and ESB... but based upon current rates i don't think you're going to see too much lower than that $134/nite MTE property.

As the four zones above each of their own little neighborhood within them, and each a different personality, it's hard to say how loud/quiet the precise location you receive will be, but generally speaking the MTW zone would be the busiest among them.
