Am posting a trip that was completed a couple weeks ago to San Diego for 2 rooms. Wanted to stay in Gaslamp/Downtown area or Coastal. I usually start at 4 Stars in this region because I know that I will get a top name hotel and won't be too disappointed. Began my Bidding at $80 using Coastal, then changing areas and increasing my bid by $5 for areas I knew didn't have 4 star hotels using your listing. After I got to $105, priceline said I could increase to $121 and get my hotel. I did it thinking it was probably the Marriott Gaslamp. Ended up being the Westgate Hotel. Wasn't my first choice, it's an old victorian style hotel right in the heart of gaslamp...but no pool and no self park, and they charge priceline bidders $20 extra if you need double beds. I needed them since the second room had my mother and girlfriends mother staying in it. I've never heard a high end hotel do this but oh-well.
