AaronJB Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 Good evening. Unfortunately, the problem with this set of dates is that the Marathon is going on the 10th (that is generally one of the most expensive weekends of the year, and runners often come in a couple of days prior) and October is generally busy/expensive. I think you may be looking at as much as $120-135 for a 4* in the Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park area for these dates. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Stucazzo13 Posted August 16, 2010 Author Report Posted August 16, 2010 Would you recommend that I try some other areas? I'm not sure if the Loop is the best spot, or if I should expand my search? Do you think I could get something at 3.5 Star for about $100 before taxes? Would you suggest I start my bidding at $120? Phil
Stucazzo13 Posted August 16, 2010 Author Report Posted August 16, 2010 Can you please help me with a bidding strategy for either The Loop, or Mag. Mile for either a 3.5 or 4 star, using whatever costs you would deem reasonable. We are not too picky with the hotel, but we would be walking distance to the major attractions.Phil
thereuare Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Can you please help me with a bidding strategy for either The Loop, or Mag. Mile for either a 3.5 or 4 star...Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?...whatever costs you would deem reasonable."reasonable" is going to be different from person-to-person, especially for difficult/expensive dates. What is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conventional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Stucazzo13 Posted August 16, 2010 Author Report Posted August 16, 2010 My goal is the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay. I have found a 3 start at $120 before taxes, and a 3.5 star at $160 before taxes.
thereuare Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 So based upon the $160 rate for a 3.5* hotel and the $120 rate for a 3*... how high would you be willing to bid for an 'unknown' 3.5* hotel thru PRICELINE? Which hotels are these... are they located "downtown"?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Stucazzo13 Posted August 17, 2010 Author Report Posted August 17, 2010 Hyatt Regency Downtown for $125, Oct 7-9th. I started at $115, and-re-bid until I was successful. Thanks again for your help, you were band on with your price range!
AaronJB Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Congrats on your success. :)This is a really terrific rate for what is traditionally a very busy/expensive time period.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
