mhdiez10 Posted August 14, 2010 Author Report Posted August 14, 2010 Hi! I hope you are fine.I am not a U.S. citizen (I am from Chile) and this is the first time that I want to use Priceline.I will go for my Honeymoon to NY for 8 nights (our first time there also), so please I need a lot of help in the bidding strategy.First, considering that is our honeymoon, we want a hotel with 4 stars at least, and I hope that I can get it in Priceline, because searching for ourselves or with a travel agency I get an average for the 8 nights Tax Includes of U.S. $2.700, so I think is expensive considering that I can get something in Priceline.Second, i am not sure if Priceline works for 8 nights, so maybe I must split the hotel in 2 periods? Please if someone can help me with the strategy, or maybe some opinions, it will be great. Thanks a lotpd: sorry for my spelling mistakes

mhdiez10 Posted August 15, 2010 Author Report Posted August 15, 2010 First of all thanks for your help. Our maximun budget maybe U.S. $260 to $280 per night plus taxes. Its possible to get some 4 star for that?
thereuare Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 Surprisingly that may not be enough for a 4* hotel, but we could give it a try. HOWEVER, should you not succeed, all is not lost as HOTWIRE has a 3.5* hotel for $259/nite which you may be interested in, believed to be the Distrikt Hotel (which has been receiving good reviews)If you'd like ot try PRICELINE first, do you know which zone(s) you're willing to accept? (or are you looking for help in this regard as well?)Let us know and we'll suggest a strateg to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mhdiez10 Posted August 15, 2010 Author Report Posted August 15, 2010 It will be great if could be The Distrikt, I also read good reviews for that Hotel. The zone I think we like is from the Central Park South to Soho. Also, this is our first time there, so if you know other zone is not problem for us. I think we will walk all day, so transportation is important for us, and to sleep in a good room. Thanks for all your help!!!!

thereuare Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 So are all of the following zones acceptable?Central Park South, Dtowntown, Empre State Building, Hells Kitchen, Midtown East, Midtown West, Times SquarePlease confirm these zones and if you want to bid up to $260 or $280 at this star level... we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Did you want to bid up to $260 or $280 for a 4* hotel, keeping in mind the $269/nite 3.5* hotel via HOTWIRE?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mhdiez10 Posted August 17, 2010 Author Report Posted August 17, 2010 I prefer a 4 star hotel of course, but i dont know if its realistic then with my prices how you you told me.That of 3,5 stars its the Distrikt?, all the reviews from there are good, so its not a bad possibility. What you think that i must do?
thereuare Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 As star ratings are subjective, there are many who might prefer a well reviewed 3.5* property to an average 4* rated hotel. What i believe to be the Distrikt is currently priced at $255/nite (and if for some reason it's not, it should at least be some very highly regarded hotel, given the 4.5/5.0 Tripadvisor user review rating)... so the question is if you simply want to go for this HOTWIRE 3.5* offering or try for a 4* rated property (perhaps with less stellar user reviews) for this stay. If you want to go the PRICELINE route, how high would you want to bid given the $255/nite HOTWIRE alternative?Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
