kris10white Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Hi! I just heard about this website from a friend so this is my first time using it. We are going to New Orleans for the first time and trying to stay at a quality hotel for as little as possible. We will be in New Orleans 8/23-25, so just needing a hotel for those two nights. We can book through Hilton's website directly and stay at the Hilton Riverside for $69/night. The Hilton is fine with us but I didn't know if we bid on Priceline/Hotwire if we could stay in an even nicer hotel for less money. What do you recommend? Thank you in advance!
AaronJB Posted August 14, 2010 Report Posted August 14, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)A few thoughts:The 4* Iberville Suites is on sale for 40% off via Expedia at $75, and that offers breakfast. This property gets very good reviews and you'd get a larger room.In terms of PRICELINE, you could likely get a 4* for somewhat less than the $69 Hilton, although with regular rates as low as they already are, PRICELINE rates may not be vastly lower. HOTWIRE does have a downtown 4* for $59 and a couple of 4.5*'s for $79-89. HOTWIRE would be mildly more expensive than PRICELINE, but the benefit of HOTWIRE would be being able to possibly make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing. PRICELINE, on the other hand, requires more flexibility - if you bid for a 4* in the French Quarter, for example, you could possibly get any participating 4* in the zone. Please use the site's HOTWIRE, Expedia or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

kris10white Posted August 16, 2010 Author Report Posted August 16, 2010 I haven't decided where to stay yet. Do you happen to know which location is better? The Hilton Riverside or the Iberville Suites? I see that the Hilton is on the water which could be nice. Do you know which is closer walking distance to the majority of the "must sees"? Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 The Iberville Suites is more centrally located in the French Quarter whereas the Hilton is located closer to the shops/mall along the water and casino. I'm not really sure what "must sees" you're looking to do while there... for me New Orleans is mostly about food, drink, music and the people. Neither hotel is really too far from the other, maybe about a 10 minute walk between the two. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
