hi, been trying on priceline to book a hotel in nyc in TS,MTW or MTS. Have been trying 4,3.5 and 3 stars and having no success. Have bid up to $135. The dates are 12 nov to 19 nov 2010. Do you think its the time of year or are we bidding too low. Have been checking calender of wins and that is what hotels in these areas are going for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Jo

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

When checking the calendar of wins for NYC for 11/12-19, I'm not seeing any posted wins for this year yet. This is generally an expensive period with holiday shopping and festivities. Additionally, this year has generally seen a noticeable rise in prices over the last couple of years. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay?

My budget was in the $130 region but as no bids are being accepted I'm guessing I will need to increase it. Do you think My budget is unrealistic?

Thanks Jo

I don't think your budget is realistic for these dates... while i would still bottom-fish at levels you are bidding, i would do so as part of a bidding strategy which gradually increased towards higher bids. As such, i wouldn't bid these levels off the bat, but based upon current rates it think these are the more realistic rates...

4* high $200/low $300

3.5* mid-$200's

3* high $100/low $200's

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

hi, i,ve left it a little while to see how things have been going on the calender of wins and nothing seems to be getting accepted for that week (12th - 19th nov) but are for the weeks before and after. Do you know is there any reason for this???

your help is greatly appreciated Jo

NYC is very expensive in the Fall/Winter - in terms of the Winter months, prices can be quite high (priceline bids requiring $200-250+ for a 4* in Midtown is not uncommon) with holiday shopping and festivities. What other bids have you made?
