travelguy2 Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Springfield is its own zone, with no re-bidding opportunities; it's not considered part of the nearby Dayton area by Priceline. So this bid was a shot in the dark and was accepted...who knows if I could have gone lower.Regular rate at the hotel is $104 for tomorrow night so I am saving a considerable amount...while the hotel is not an ideal location for me (it is in the center of town and I would have preferred something closer to the highway in this case), it is a great deal so I am not going to complain much :) I used the PRICELINE link to bid, as always.
yellowdog Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding :) We hope you're satisfied with the outcome and will like the Courtyard.Looks like a great deal in my book :) Enjoy your stay.Yellowdog.
travelguy2 Posted August 13, 2010 Author Report Posted August 13, 2010 Wanted to add an update. I am at the hotel now and I think I got my money's worth.Downtown Springfield is pretty dead at night. The hotel has a full service restaurant in it, probably because there are only 2 other restaurants in downtown that are open for dinner, a bistro-type place and Buffalo Wild Wings! Both are within walking distance. Hotel also has a pool and free surface parking for guests. It's a fairly modern 6 story building right in the heart of town. The location is next to train tracks and my room is at the very end of the hall overlooking the tracks. The hotel is obviously aware of the situation as there were earplugs thoughtfully included in my room. I'm not sure if I got this room because I'm on a Priceline rate or just because they are highly booked tonight. I would guess the former as they can't be that full if they're offering rooms for $38 last minute. If I had paid full price I would probably ask to move to a quieter room.Still, I think it's a good value for $38.
AaronJB Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 Glad to hear you're having a mostly good stay at this property. :)
