Priceline Hotel: 4* Fort Lauderdale (Downtown) Renaissance

Even though I gave up trying for the FLL zone, I am posting my results below for those who may be trying for this zone on this weekend.

Having placed several hotels through Priceline, I volunteered to book three pre-cruise rooms for a co-worker and her party for Saturday, April 9. Having stayed at the 2* Springhill Suites in the Fort Lauderdale airport zone, I highly recommended it to her.

I have been trying since early February with no success. Having not found any posts for this date in this zone, I was bidding in $5 increments about once a week. I started at $45 which is what we paid in October and finally got up to $75 tonight with no success. Since this date is probably still in spring break and with little more than 3 weeks to go, she began to get concerned, so rather than waiting 72 hours to bid again, we changed zones and were successful in getting 3 rooms at the 4* Renaissance Downtown for $80 each, plus taxes and fees. Nice to see your success... glad it allw worked out! (and think your co-worker and her group will be much happier at the Renaissance than at the airport) I'm sure your friend will be pleased (and maybe a little amazed?) as the value here is certainly much better than $75 for a 2* at the airport!

We always combine posts which are for the same dates as it keeps the board much more orderly, especially since many people don't follow-up their 'open' posts in which the zones changed (you're a considerate exception to the rule, and we appreciate it very much). The best example is when a user in NYC ends up staying in Jersey City NJ, we merge all open posts into the one NJ thread... otherwise we would undoubtedly be left with many posts in the NYC forum which never showed the ultimate result.

Merging the posts in this manner will also show other users the complete bidding process, among the different zones, which shows that it isn't always as easy as "pick a zone, name a price, stay in a hotel"... sometimes it takes a bit of finesse and flexibility, as this post now shows.
