Northjersey Paul Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I'm new to betterbidding and find it extremely informative & helpful. I'm trying to coordinate the hotel portion for a group of about 10 for a weekend in Chicago (Fri & Sat night) in September for the ND vs. Michigan game. I'd like to keep us close to Ditka's where we have a Friday night dinner reservation. Any suggestions on how to leverage the need for multiple rooms plus any recommendations on where to try? Thanks in advance for your help.
AaronJB Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Please provide the actual date/s of travel and desired budget per night. Additionally, do you need two beds per room?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 I'm trying to coordinate the hotel portion for a group of about 10...How many rooms will you need? when will your plans be firm (as far as how many guests)?? for a weekend in Chicago (Fri & Sat night) in September for the ND vs. Michigan game. I'd like to keep us close to Ditka's where we have a Friday night dinner reservation.Friday nite is good as you might be too sad to go out in public on Saturday nite :) (like i should be talkin' :) )Any suggestions on how to leverage the need for multiple rooms plus any recommendations on where to try? Thanks in advance for your help.Keep in mind that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel and they might not be able, or willing, to accommodate your request for room(s) with two beds (assuming that's what you want/need) If you're not willing to take this risk HOTWIRE can be a better option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy. What is your expected budget and desired star rating and when will you have a firm guest count? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Northjersey Paul Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 Thanks for the good points re doubling up vs. double occupancy and how hotels take that. I will require a firm commitment from my folks by week's end so I'll know for sure how many rooms we will need. We aren't kids so a nicer hotel is what I have in mind, but we'll be there only to sleep so maybe I can lower my views. P.S. - Not going out Saturday night? I haven't mentioned yet if we're Wolverines or Irishmen.
AaronJB Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 I will require a firm commitment from my folks by week's end so I'll know for sure how many rooms we will need. Please let us know how many rooms you need when confirmed. Ditka's is on 100 E. Chestnut; in terms of HOTWIRE, you would be only looking in the NMA-Water Tower-Gold Coast area, as the restaurant falls within that HOTWIRE zone. The River North-NMA area on PRICELINE is much larger and does cover this area, but also covers all the way to the river (essentially, the Mag Mile/Streeterville and NMA-WT-GC areas on HOTWIRE are the River North-NMA area on PRICELINE.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 P.S. - Not going out Saturday night? I haven't mentioned yet if we're Wolverines or Irishmen.I just assumed that if Michigan fans you'd make a trip back to AA and the Big House rather then heading to Notre Dame... i did realize i could be wrong in this assumption, but figured the odds were in my favor. cardsfan Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I just won the Tremont Hotel using HOTWIRE. It is next door to Ditkas. Click on my user name to ID it- and it lists the amenities and zone in my old post.
