wheely Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Hi Guys, Slightly new to this although booked a succesful Australian stay through Priceline. As a newby, visiting New York next year for the first time, with my girlfriend and her mum for my girlfriends 30th birthday I'm trying to find somewhere reasonably affordable (
AaronJB Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Please confirm the exact dates and which PRICELINE zones you would be interested in bidding for (as well as star rating you would be interested in.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
wheely Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 Obviously that was meant to be March 2011 in my thread title!!Heading on on 3rd March for 5 nights. Was ideally looking for 4* or thereabouts. Just want to do the whole tourist in NY thing really, so what areas would you recommend staying in....i was guessing at the more central areas around Times Square etc, but if NY is anything like London, Tube/Metro travel can get you to most places fairly easily.I'd rather stay 15+ mins out of the centre, if it meant I could get a much nicer hotel to be honest.
wheely Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 Ideally it would be $185 including taxes.I will look into the other Hotel that you have suggested....wont hurt to have a backup in place. As I dont knw NY at all, I really dont know which areas to aim for ...was thinking of CPS TS MTW MTE ESB. Is UWS alright, or too far out of the way?Is it worth waiting a while to see if prices come down a bit?.....no real rush to book them and I figured that early March should be a fairly quiet period.
AaronJB Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 I think rates are (usually - again, there could always be something going on) usually low enough during this period of the year that I would not include UWS and concentrate on the core Midtown zones. While public transit is readily available in NYC, in early March I'd be more centrally located if the weather is a little on the chilly side.I'd definitely look into the Ink48 property as a back-up, as the property gets great reviews and is a pretty good sale via Expedia. I'd keep an eye on HOTWIRE listings and start researching these March dates in late Oct/early Nov and see if anything as changed. You can always feel free to ask any questions at all in the meantime regarding this trip posting in this thread. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
wheely Posted August 11, 2010 Author Report Posted August 11, 2010 I could only find Ink48 at $212 on Expedia....will keep looking though. I can't imagine NY will be fully booked in early March. Will def try and use PRICELINE through one of your links if I can though.
