Clicked the HOTWIRE link through BB for a 4* in Cambridge, MA for Sep 7-9 (2 nights).

Amenities listed are: fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, high-speed Internet access, and tennis nearby.

85% recommended in customer review.

Typically, I'd think this is the Royal Sonesta. However, the TripAdvisor rating listed is 3.0, whereas Royal Sonesta on TripAdvisor is rated at 4.0.

Price per night has been moving between $129 and $139, but most recently has dropped to $123.

Is it reasonable to expect that this is Royal Sonesta regardless of the TripAdvisor rating? Neither Le Meridien, Marlowe, nor Veritas (the 4*s mainly reported here) have a pool to my knowledge, and I haven't seen other 4* in Cambridge reported here.

My hunch is that Hotel Marlowe is a better property, but the Royal Sonesta is better location-wise vis-a-vis proximity to subway, so I'd be pleased with either. While not a bargain basement price, around $120 seems reasonable enough....or is it?

BTW, really informative board here. Rest assured I will book using the link through BB and I will report my results. Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

I'm sorry to say that a 4* property with this amenitie combo has not yet been reported/ID'd to the board.

I don't think this is the Royal Sonesta. I looks like the Hyatt Regency Cambridge has been upgraded to 4*. I think the Hyatt is a stronger candidate than the Royal Sonesta here.

Thanx for using boards HOTWIRE link :)

Yellowdog,

Yes, I do think you have solved the mystery. This is a pity, as reviews have not been kind to the Hyatt Regency Cambridge and the location is not attractive at all. I'm going to have to look at other alternatives.

Thanks for your assistance. I'll post after I decide what to do.

Ended up selecting 4* in Quincy Market - Financial District area for Sept 7-9 (two nights) and the property was The Ames, as expected.

The price was $159, which isn't bargain basement, but is cheaper than the nearly $180 that was being offered the past few days.

The amenities were: Boutique, Fitness, Restaurant, High-speed Internet, and Spa.

I'm pleased with the price and am excited as reviews of this property are great.

Thanks to Yellowdog, the other moderators, and the contributors for making this a great site.

And of course, I used the HOTWIRE link through BetterBidding to make the booking. I'll definitely use BB again in the future.

Congrats on your success. :)

Wonderful deal for this newer (a year or two old) Morgans Hotel Group property (who also run a number of well-known properties in NYC, Miami and Los Angeles)

Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase.

Enjoy your stay.
