palar Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Hi Guys, HOTWIRE has a lakeshore (Toronto West) area now and has one 2* hotel listed, need to find out what it is.Thanks.
robteb Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 There are not a lot of major chains in this area. My best guess would be the Days Inn at 14 Roncesvalles Ave. If it's this one, BEWARE!! It's in a horrible (sketchy) area and located right next to a streetcar storage yard, so the noise from the turning trolleys is probably intolerable at night. Another outside possibility is the Sheraton Four Points at 1926 Lake Shore Boulevard West. Although Four Points are usually 3*, this hotel is right next to the highway (noise) and is in a fairly remote location (not much around besides the highway and several parks along the lakeshore), so it wouldn't surprise me if it were rated 2*.There are also many independent motels and small hotels throughout the zone, but I'm not sure if Hotwire would use any of these. Hope this helps..

palar Posted August 4, 2010 Author Report Posted August 4, 2010 I'm a sailor attending a regatta held out of the park nearby (Etobicoke Yacht Club, 300 Humber Bay), last year stayed in one of the sketchy motels, looking for a better place /deal, realizing that their is not much in that area. Just trying to minimize cost while also staying within a quick drive to the regatta site (don't want to spend any time in traffic). That 4 points looks okay, but their site is very expensive. Would love for it to be that hotel, but a 2* with no reviews.... hope someone can tell me concretely, although at 50 bucks I'm tempted to book one night just to see...
thereuare Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 The coffee cup icon stands for "Complimentary Breakfast" which is not an amenity offered by the Four Points so i don't think this is the property you're being offered... the Days Inn would be a better guess than the Four Points, but of course there could be others as well.2* is the lowest rating on HOTWIRE, i'd sooner try bidding a similar amount on PRICELINE for a 2* (or try higher) hotel. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for your purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
