jw1976 Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 I apologize if I'm doing it all wrong, but I think after browsing through enough threads I figured out how to request some help in bidding for the the dates I needI should've done it Sunday night when the avg price was pretty low, but I had to wait for a response from a friend and then Monday morning it goes up like crazy.the average has gone up incrementally the past two days, is that a bad sign? or just a during the week fluctuation?1. Union Square East preferred, but West is fine2. 3 - 4 star is fine.3. maximum that i would probably pay for is $130 a night.4. dates 9/15 - 9/20I've tried some low bids on priceline from the 80-100 range and nothing so far.Thank you for all your help
thereuare Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! Are you willing to pay more for a 4* hotel vs. a 3* property OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay? (NOTE: there is a 3.5* level offered too)For the bidding you have already done, what star level was that for? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jw1976 Posted August 4, 2010 Author Report Posted August 4, 2010 The maximum I would probably pay per night for a hotel room is probably $150 for a 4* in Uniobn Sq East.so 3.5* to 4* is fine with me, if worse comes to worse, i'll go down to a 3*.I've bidded 80 for a 4* in Union Sq East on 8/2I've bidded 90 for a 4*, 3.5* in Union Sq East and West on 8/2I've bidded 100 for a 4*, 3.5*, 3* with the same zones on 8/2I tried again this morning going above $100, but I think I didn't hit my 24hour refresh yet so it didn't go through.it is weird the median sunday night was $89 for a 4* and when monday rolled around it was $215 and today $289. I shouldve tried sunday night.
thereuare Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 OK, you have a few different bidding parameters above, so we need to break it down a bit...What do you want to try first...-bidding for a 4* hotel in only the USE zone up to what price?-bidding for a 3.5* or better in the USE or USW up to what price?-split bid for Sunday nite only... if you go this route bid USE only include USW? At what maximum bid?... or do you want to see what the other 4 nites will cost you before splitting for this less expensive nite?Which above would be your first step? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jw1976 Posted August 4, 2010 Author Report Posted August 4, 2010 My first step ideally would be bidding on USE up to $130 a night.
thereuare Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Doesn't appear that $130 will be enough for a 4* hotel in the USE for these dates, but to give it a try...At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* USE....Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* USE and re-bid zone5....Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
