Beski Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Based on 2 date ranges for our LA trip, I am getting 2 different hotel descriptions for a 4.5* Hotel in Beverly Hills - West Hollywood. Please click this HOTWIRE link before replying.Sorry for the confusion......My Dates are Firm....we need a room from 8/31 to 9/5, but NOT at the higher $219 price !!2 days ago all searches for our possible dates and date ranges returned what looked to be the Sofitel at prices from $139 to $159 depending on the night. Now that we locked in the dates 8/31 to 9/5 the Sofitel choice appears to have gone up to $219, and now a 2nd hotel (Hotel #2) has come up which as caused confusion by showing the SPA icon and having different ratings and less reviews than the Sofitel, etc. So if I can get an idea of what Hotel #2 is at $144, then I would buy that for the 9/1 to 9/5 dates, and then try to book the first night 8/31 to 9/1 either on Hotwire if I could be fairly certain, or if not, then book it directly on the hotel's site once revealed.Hope that makes sense !!
thereuare Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Understood... thanks for the explanation.Unforutnately a 4.5* property with this amenity combination has not yet been reported to the board. The London West Hollywood with a new amenity set is a possibility (the TA rating matches and the hotel does have all the amenities listed)... the Andaz West Hollywood is another possibility (although i don't see anything listed regarding SPA services for this property). Were ou specifically targeting the Sofitel or did that offering just seem like a good value? Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? If so, you could (confirm with your own HOTWIRE searches before purchasing) purchase the hotel with a SPA for 9/3-9/5 in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase what appears to be the same hotel for 9/1-9/3 and 'fill-in' the nite of 8/31 either direct with the hotel or at another property... if you're not happy with the results of the 9/3-9/5 property (although with a 4.5/5.0 TA rating i would think odds favor a positive result) purchase the non-SPA hotel for 8/31-9/3. Before making any purchases you should run searches for 8/31-9/1, 8/31-9/3 and 9/3-9/5 to confirm when the same hotel appears as well as check prices to make sure that mixing/matching will come in within your budget. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Beski Posted August 4, 2010 Author Report Posted August 4, 2010 We have the Hollywood Roosevelt reserved as back-up, but that's at $202Then like I mentioned above, for the past 2 weeks I saw the Sofitel on Hotwire for Great Rates between $139 - $159 for the nights of our stay. So as we confirmed our dates, I became sold on the Sofitel - and then the rates went Up !!So I am open to other hotels (London would be great, but not sure about the Andaz), but to the point that if I knew it would be 1 of 3 choices, then I could be comfortable with any of those 3 after reading the reviews, etc. But I don't like to get comfortable with 3 possible choices and have it be a "surprise hotel" !!--> Edit: Is it possible the Sofitel has "added" the SPA back on to it's icons for these dates ? The Spa icon was originally shown on the Hotwire Hotel Listing, but now it's crossed out. I am temped to buy the $144 hotel for 1 night to "peek" and then add the remaining nights if I am happy. If I am not happy, I will eat the 1 night and go to the Roosevelt !!
thereuare Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 I don't think it's the Sofitel as the other information doesn't match up...If you look at the hotel you think is the Sofitel (starting the 2nd nite of your stay onward) look at the information that HOTWIRE asks for feedback on (cleanliness, location, service, etc) and then compare to the 'other' HOTWIRE hotel which shows a Spa icon... the information doesn't match (which would imply different properties) As well, the Spa hotel has a 4.5/5.0 TA rating, which is not consistent with the Sofitel. So while it's possible the second listing is an alternate view of the Sofitel, for the reasons above i don't think it's likely. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Beski Posted August 5, 2010 Author Report Posted August 5, 2010 Now I am starting to think it's the L'Ermitage Beverly Hills I read a few months back that somebody got this property as a 4.5* but didn't report the icons. I think some of the other ratings & reviews are matching up, can you help me with this thereuare ?
thereuare Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 I can't confirm if this is the L'Ermitage... but i don't see anything that would exclude this property from the possibilities. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
