Great forum and thanks for the help (in advance!)

Can I please get some help for bidding on a 4 star hotel for Toronto Downtown North or South?

The dates I am interested in is Sept 11-15 (4 nights). My maximum price is $130 (hope that's sufficient).

I went through the list carefully checking and then unchecking each zone to see which properties were less than 4* and found there were 9 zones.

I vaguely remember getting help before regarding the varies permutations that I can go through (and the appropriate times to close the browser and then using the board's PRICELINE link to resume re-bidding).

Also, I was wondering, is it possible if I bid on the room but someone else uses it (for instance, I wish to bid for a room for my parents, but it will be charged to my credit card but they will be the ones staying in the room) - will there be an issue with this?

Thanks again!

Welcome (officially) to BetterBidding!

Using your NINE re-bid zones i'd bid as follows:

Select 4* Downtown...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130

Any questions feel free to ask.

If you want to place a bid for somebody else, the room needs to be in the name of the person checking-in. You would enter their name where it asks for the guest's name in Room#1 (or room#2, room#3, etc) and your information in the billing section. However, the guest will still need a credit card at check-in to cover any incidentals payable directly to the hotel (resort fee if any, restaurant/bar billed to the room, telephone, movies, etc, etc)

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

4 star downtown will definitely move for that price if you wait closer to the date 90% of the time the longer you wait the better---and I do mean 3-4 days out--they (hotels) realize their rooms are going to be empty with no chance of enough bookings to fill---remember they have a chance you will buy things like room service meals, odds and ends from their shops et.-- the longer you wait-UNLESS---there is something big happening on those dates. IF YOU HAVE THE NERVE AND NOT ONE WHO NEEDS SECURITY OF PLANS---you will probably win under $75 for a 4 star.

I lived there for 20 yrs and go back each year (12)-so I speak with a little knowledge although I like the western area of the city and Mississauga personally and driving to the Islington or Kipling Stations and taking subways for travel in the city.

While the price may drop significantly closer to the dates, this is during the film festival, which is one of the busiest times of the year for hotels. If the OP isn't successful now and waits it out, I would definitely book something for a back up just in case.

:) Trace is right the Film Fest is on during that time----

Just checking my bids---$48 is the low for a 3 * as of 7/8 trying to book for 8/22-26 as price ask for $10 more to secure a room on my $38 bid Airport/Mississauga and for a 4* it is $69 as I was asked for the same $10 on a $59 bid (that was Toronto South) I would not wait because of that although if you book in Mississauga or Brampton-- drive isn't bad and I doubt it will affect either.

Might look in outer Toronto areas--Take note any downtown hotel will come with parking extra $12-$25 day ----Suggestion---mass transit in Toronto is very good (safe)---drive to a subway station-minimal fees-----------DO NOT DRIVE IN THE CITY--parking fees I could live with although high---TRAFFIC IS HORRIBLE 3:30 pm -7PM

Hope this helps you and any
