babarage Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 I will be in Baltimore for the U of Maryland - Navy game on September 6th. Trying to find a good hotel option with transportation options to the stadium (ie close to light rail?). Would love to be able to get the Holiday Inn at the Stadiums but I don't think there is any way to be reasonably sure of it or is there? On hotwire it shows the following hotelsdowntown and inner harbor3 star, fitness, pool, restaurant, business95% recommend rate$66baltimore washington int'l airport bwi north east3 star, shuttle, smoke free, fitness, pool, restaurant, business, internet, golf95% recommend rate, 4 on tripadvisor$69 (could it be the city center sheraton tho the tripadvisor rating would be off then)?)2,5 star, shuttle, breakfast, fitness, pool, business, laundry, internet90% recommend rate, 3.5 on tripadvisor$69 (has hyatt place gone down to 2.5?)any help will be greatly appreciated. PRICELINE is an option as well. Am aiming for $70-$80 especially if I have to pay for parking.
thereuare Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 PRICELINE is an option as well. What is most important to you for this stay... the lowest price or having a guess as to the hotel you may likely receive before purchase?? babarage Posted August 2, 2010 Author Report Posted August 2, 2010 What is most important to you for this stay... the lowest price or having a guess as to the hotel you may likely receive before purchase??I would like to have a fair idea of the hotel I am likely to get. but still stay within budget :)
thereuare Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 The Downtown property has not yet been reported to the board or identified. The BWI properties don't match anything either, but my best guess for the 3* is the Four Points downgraded since last reported... i don't have any insight into the 2.5*, but will add that i don't think the Hyatt Place is likely. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. babarage Posted August 3, 2010 Author Report Posted August 3, 2010 Using the PRICELINE link on this board I searched priceline for my stay. I noticed they have added Baltimore Stadiums as a zone. Looking at the priceline map and google maps I am quite sure there is only one hotel located in the area which is the HI Express at the Stadiums I prefer. The star-levels are 2 and 2.5. On the regular priceline the HI is rated as a 2.5 star so I have a good feeling bidding on this zone will get me the hotel I want and have started the bidding. No luck yet tho. $50 rejected, added west baltimore (only 1 and 2 star there) and bid 55, rejected. Added glen burnie (again only 1 and 2 star there) and bid 60. Nothing yet. So I'll have to wait it 24 hours before i can trie again. Or should I just add the 2 star in de stadiums zone and bid again, since I don't think there is a 2 star and it might give me the HI as an upgrade?
thereuare Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 With more than a month before your stay i don't see any need to take an unnecessary risk by adding 2* to your bidding... not only adding a 'live' zone (what if you're wrong and there is a 2* rated hotel in this zone) but also increasing your price... recipe for trouble. With time on your side i'd wait 24 hours and re-vist this tomorrow, continuing your bidding from where you left off. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. babarage Posted August 4, 2010 Author Report Posted August 4, 2010 yes! I started the bidding today at $55 figuring I could go up to 65 if necessary but my first bid was accepted. And as I expected it was the HI Express at the Stadiums. Of course used the PRICELINE link to start the bidding. Anyhow, you may want to add the Baltimore Stadiums zone to the Priceline list and the 2.5 star HI Express.Thx for all the help.
thereuare Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and that you're happy with the results.Thank you for using the PRICELINE link on the board to begin your bidding and sharing your win, helping us add this property to the Priceline Hotel List.Enjoy your stay.
