franklin411 Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 I've been trying to book the last night of my trip in Boston (9/15-9/21) for weeks now--I have a booking at the Marriott from 9/15-9/20 (already have a few threads here on those wins). My bidding history was 4* Quincy Market + Copely for $130/night with no bites. I expected that, so every time I'd try dropping down to 3.5* in Copley for $120-$132, but every time I'd get a counteroffer to add $20 to my bid. I knew that the Sheraton was going for $145-$150/night based on Hotwire, so I finally ended up bidding $135 just to get it over with. Not a great deal in my opinion, since I could have booked it on Hotwire for ~$140. But for just one night it's not too bad I guess.PS--I decided to book at a high rate because I did a little googling and there's a ton of conventions in Boston the week of 9/20, so I figured that was as good as it was going to get unless I was willing to take a chance on a last minute inventory dump.
AaronJB Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 Congrats on your success. :)Nice deal for the Sheraton for a busy night, and not far from the Marriott.Thank you for sharing the details of your win with the board and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start future purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
