Duane Haas Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 I was wanting to get a hotel on Priceline for the weekend of 08/13/10-08/15/10 as I have seen these hotels going for around $40-$50 for this timeframe. I would like a 4* Downtown St. Louis (near the arch) with a budget of up to $75/night with hopefully starting at $40-$45.If you need any more info please let me know! Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates for your dates actually look high and i'm not sure that you'll be successful at the very low rates you've seen ohters win for other dates. However, to give it a try...At the 4* level you have NINE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Downtown...Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55 if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Duane Haas Posted August 1, 2010 Author Report Posted August 1, 2010 Thanks for the help!I tried all the way up to $90, but I got 0 takers. I'm debating on trying a different time frame or just keep trying.
AaronJB Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 Wow! Must be a busy day in St Louie. :) Sorry to hear that your bids weren't accepted - HOTWIRE rates also look unusually high for these dates. You could try for the 'burbs if that is of interest, or try for another set of dates. Let us know what you decide. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 If your plans are flexible i would postpone the trip... even just one week later rates are substantially lower. Not sure what is happening the weekend of 8/13 but it's causing rates to increase substantially.Let us know if you're able to choose an alternate set of dates and we'll revise the above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Duane Haas Posted August 1, 2010 Author Report Posted August 1, 2010 Well I have decided to drop it down to 3.5* and go up from there...I am already at $90 a night after starting at $70. This seems to be the only weekend my wife can get off for us to get out of town. If I don't get a good room under $100, I'll just try to find a different place to stay.Any suggestions on a weekend getaway type vacation leaving from Louisville, KY?

purdue07 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 One of the reasons that weekend is so high - Cubs vs. Cards baseball game fri-sun. Sunday night is the ESPN game of the week, so more people stay all three nights. My wife and are going up for the game, and having a heck of a time finding a place.
