I ended up using Priceline through your link above.

Bid $90 for a 4* hotel on North Michigan Ave - River North for 10-22 through 10-24 2010. They suggested I raise my price to $105, which I did and ended up getting the Affinia Chicago.

The HOTWIRE hotel above would likely be the Sheraton. If you are flexible regarding which 4* you stay in, I'd suggest trying PRICELINE for these dates.

The funny thing is that I was going to suggest trying PRICELINE because the HOTWIRE listing was the Sheraton and I'm not particularly fond of the Sheraton. You used PRICELINE and got both a far better deal and far better hotel (better location, too.) All-around an excellent result.
