guapo131 Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 I just did a priceline hotel bid sequence for London UK.My preferences were zones 1, 5, 7, and 8. With probably 7 and 5 being the most preferrable. Also, i was recognizing that the Mayfair area of London would be pricier and i would be willing to pay higher for this region. I thought about doing the rebid trick utilizing non4* zones to increase my bidding opportunities, but there were no 3* or below zones. So i had to do a different method of combinations to give myself additional bids.Oh, and my stay is from August 5th (thursday) to August 8th (sunday) in 4* or better hotels.Pre-bid research:Zone 1: $65 threshold where priceline says "your likelihood of actually accepting a bid is extremely low" (i used this as a good starting point and rounded up).Zone 5: $65 threshold (Kensington)Zone 7: $88 threshold (Mayfair)Zone 8: $88 threshold (Notting hill)note: zones 7 and 8 are pricier, or at least considered pricier by priceline.Bid1: zones 1&5 $70 + taxes ... declinedBid2: zones 5&8 $80 + taxes ... declined, BUT offered the opportunity to instantly up my bid by $15 and re-bid immediately (same zones). I SAVED this page and went to a new tab in firefox and started again with bid3Bid3: zones 1&8: $80 + taxes ... declinedBid4: zones 1&5&7&8: $90 +taxes ... declined, BUT offored the opportunitey to instantly up my bid by $15 and rebid immediately. I saved this page for later, but as you'll see, i never actually used it.Bid5: zones 5&8 $95 +taxes ... remember that this was the instant up-your-bid by $15 and rebid immediately (from Bid2). I did it at this point in the bid sequence.BID ACCEPTEDThe hotel that i will be staying in is Hilton London Olympia (Kensington High Street)from Thursday night August 5th to Sunday morning August 8th I hope this helps people. CHEERSAlso, I'm not sure if the hilton london olympia (on kensington high street) is on the BB priceline list of hotels for London, but if one of the moderators wanted to add that to the big list, that might be a good idea too.
