oh_bidding Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Hello,Last year this board helped me with getting a good deal on a hotel during the Toronto Film Festival. I am hoping I can get help again this year. Last year, I was able to get the Delta Chelsea for a pretty low price (I think $50-$60) from Hotwire. But this year Hotwire is offering it for about 3x that price and it's a hotel.com sponsored price (not a real Hotwire price)So I'm hoping to switch and use Priceline to get the Delta Chelsea for a reasonable price. My hotel dates are 9/10/10 - 9/14/10.My location is Toronto Downtown North.Ideally, I would like to get the Delta Chelsea, and that's 3.5* but looking at the 3.5+ hotels for Toronto Downtown North, I'd be fine with any of them.I just tried:$80 Toronto Downtown North - Rejected$85 Toronto Downtown North, Oakville - Mississauga South - Rejected$90 Toronto Downtown North, Oakville - Mississauga South, Toronto East - Rejected(And I used the PRICELINE link to make those bids)At this time, I'm only willing to go up to $105 max, and I think there are a few other zones I can select, but I'm not 100% certain, and I don't want to pick the wrong ones. What are some other zones I can select for rebidding? Mississauga & Toronto West? Any others? Is $105 too low? I don't really see any other prices for my area/dates, so I'm not sure what's a more accurate bid. Thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Welcome back to BetterBidding!Let's take a step backwards and make sure you know how to determine your re-bid zones (as they should be checked before every bidding cycle to make sure that nothing has changed) and so you can utilize ALL of your available re-bid zones, of which you have EIGHT when bidding 3.5* in the Toronto zone. Please see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and confirm your re-bid zones with the board. If you read the previous link and are confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. oh_bidding Posted July 30, 2010 Author Report Posted July 30, 2010 Ah, yes, I misunderstood what I had read. I was using the retail Priceline page to figure out what areas to use instead of the actual Name Your Own Price page. I think what threw me off was that the instructions had said enter your zone, then go to the next page, etc.. But really selecting your zone automatically updates the selection for # of stars you can choose.I've now identified the 8 regions and I've used up 7 of them with bids of 80, 85, 90, 95, 101, 105, 110, 115 and they've all been rejected. I'm already over my original max of $105. I'm not sure how much higher I would want to go because I know I can actually get a deluxe room at the Delta Chelsea for $157.
oh_bidding Posted July 30, 2010 Author Report Posted July 30, 2010 Yeah, I just gave it one last shot at $120 for my last re-bid zone and it was still rejected. I guess now my option is to either lower my star rating, wait 24 or 72hrs? or just use another method of purchase.

oh_bidding Posted August 2, 2010 Author Report Posted August 2, 2010 I was able to identify that the Delta Chelsea was available on Hotwire for Friday, Sept 10 for $93. But then for all other days, it was $200+, so I ended up just reserving the room via Hotwire for 9/10/10 and then reserving a room through the Delta company website for $164 for the rest of the days.Should I start a new topic in the Canada-Hotwire forum for my Hotwire purchase?
