frenchmn Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Took a shot at East Lansing 3* for $50. I added Lansing and raised this must book to $60, the Courtyard By Marriott. Called them, asked about room type, was told, priceline rooms do not qualify. They are priceline rooms. Blew me off quickly. I do not know what to expect, but I know up front what they think of priceline bookings.Maybe I shoule wear my Marriott Shirt from my days consulting them.

thereuare Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Called them, asked about room type, was told, priceline rooms do not qualify. They are priceline rooms. Blew me off quickly. I do not know what to expect, but I know up front what they think of priceline bookings.I don't know the specifics of your conversation (if you asked for a particular room or asked what room type you were assigned) but i wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion you did...Many PRICELINE / HOTWIRE rooms are booked "run of house" based upon what is available at check-in as this makes it easier for the hotel to manage their room inventory, so perhaps you were being told that PRICELINE reservations don't qualify for a room assignment until check-in? As far as being 'blown off', a guest/customers should never be treated rudely, but unfortunately many front desk staff are not only in charge of check-in/check-out, but also answering guest questions and answering the phone. It's possible the clerk was very busy with guests waiting in line and therefore was trying to get you off the phone as quickly as possible (especially once s/he knew that s/he wasn't able to assist in your room assignment). Imagine if the front desk clerk did take the time to have a long(er) conversation with you, there would be another guest posting a hotel review about the "front desk clerk who was more concerned with helping a potential customer rather than one who was already committed to the property and standing in front of them".Hope your stay goes better then you anticipate. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
frenchmn Posted August 2, 2010 Author Report Posted August 2, 2010 Yellowdog, I always use the PRICELINE link when I bid, just didn't put it in the post. Have done this a few times before over the years and always support this site. Just missed a paste. When I checked in, either my request had been noted or my conversation with her at check-in worked. I had asked for one of the balcony rooms. You are right, never give up until you are in the room. Although, if you had been a fly-on-the-wall of that initial phone call, you would think, as I did, would never happen. Being a smoker, the balcony made the difference and it was a great trip.Web stie room rate was $128
AaronJB Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 Glad to hear that everything worked out. :)
