Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Monterey Portola Hotel and Spa At Monterey Bay

Tried 4* Monterey up to $100, then switched to 3.5*, started at $70 with immediate counter offer to go up to $85, I declined and then bid $80 (I should have started with $75, don't know what I was thinking), got Portola Hotel & Spa At Monterey Bay. Very pleased, great reviews, looks lovely and looks like it's a 4* on TA. Bid through the PRICELINE link of course. You $80 bid is excellent, after seeing your post, I bid a different day 10/17, and was offered $85 also, and I did not get anything at my final bid of $78.

Rates vary quite a bit by dates (traffic, etc.) and $80 really could have been the best number for these dates, but the number for a day or week later could be very different. Bidding, especially in moderate-to-major markets, is really often a case-by-case situation.
