Aussie Assault Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 Ok so I took Romelle's advice and put in a couple of bids on 5 * properties on Priceline.I bid $90 Venice - RejectedAdded Mestre Area, bid again at $100 - RejectedThe only reason I am sort of bidding in this range is that on Hotwire there is a 5 * property in this time frame for $139 per night. Looking at the amenities, it has to be Molino Stucky, and judging by previous prices I dont think any of the other 5 * Venice properties would come this low.I still have plenty of time before our trip, so I am not going to go all out and bid whatever to secure this hotel. Our budget is probably $120 per night, maybe a little extra. There are some nice 4 * properties in the Venice area as well, but they are not easy to target.Any suggestions on how to go about the bidding from here? Thanks!

Aussie Assault Posted August 13, 2010 Author Report Posted August 13, 2010 Ended up winning the Molino Stucky.Spent over my budget and won it for $134 a night - which was only $5 cheaper than HOTWIRE in the end and hardly worth all the hassle of increasing it minimally each day.I kept doing as I did in the opening post each day and increasing it by $2 a day within Venice, then Venice/Mestre (starting from $110 a night. From my bid of $118 it counter offered at another $20. PRICELINE continued to counter offer each day until finally accepting at $134.
