prettyme Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 I've been trying to get a hotel for 2 nights (20-22 september) very unsuccessfuly :) In the past I have always been able to get the Hyatt for no more than $80 per night. Now I have gone to 125 - and still - zilch. Did all the rebid options - but no hotel won. Thought maybe there is some convention - but hotels show availabilty to those dates. Am I trying to early? Any suggestions or advice on other areas. We need to be in Manhattan for a doctors appoint. and since Jersey city is convenient and close to the PATH it is our first option. Thanks for any advise you can give us.
yellowdog Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding :) I'm sorry to say that rates are sky high for your dates. I guess you have been bidding 4* since you mention Hyatt? What is your max budget/night and preferred star rating for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
prettyme Posted July 28, 2010 Author Report Posted July 28, 2010 Thanks. I have no preference to hotel. I just want to be in the Jersey area. I have bidded on all options, have been declined them all foe the past month of trying. I really wasn't hoping on paying over 110 for a 2 star. What do you think? What would be a reasonable price to bid on 2 stars in the Jersey area. This is our first leg on a 3 week vacation in the states (due to a docs app. in manahattan, so the dates cannot be changed. Is there any specific reason that the rates are that high for these dates?
yellowdog Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 No, i don't know why the rates are so high.I see some lower priced 2* and 2.5* on HOTWIRE in Hoboken, would that be ok? Or you want to try PRICELINE 2* for Jersey City first? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
prettyme Posted July 29, 2010 Author Report Posted July 29, 2010 Thanks. I'll stick to priceline as I do not want the Howard Johnson or the Ramada Inn, their reviews are a bit "seedy" at best.Since we have a great deal on a car rental (cheaper that cab fair to and from airport) maybe we will change zones and then park at a PATH parking lot. Maybe Secaucus?Any inputs?
