Rayson0000 Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 I've been trying to book at hotel in Myrtle Beach for Aug 19th - 23rd and having lots of trouble getting anything. My max bid has been 89 and have tried 4 times. Is this just a bad weekend?Any help!?!?Thanks in advance, I have been using the PRICELINE link in this site to make my past bids.
AaronJB Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Rates on HOTWIRE (and regular rates) for 3.5*+ do look rather high for these dates - maybe "last days of Summer" trips? What would be your desired budget per night? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Rayson0000 Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 I wanted to spend less than 80, but doesnt look like thats going to happen. Makes me think I should just go with the Hotwire 4.5 star for 155/night. Or should I wait till it gets closer to the date?I would rather spend 155 for 4.5 star than 110 for 3.5 star. But if I can get a 3.5 star for a good deal, Id rather take that one.
AaronJB Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 The 4.5* on HOTWIRE w/Resort, Restaruant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa for $155 in the Myrtle Beach area is likely the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. That property is $179 on Expedia and coupon code 10SPRING takes $10 off - $169.That may be something to consider as back-up (although DEFINITELY make sure to check that the Expedia listing is refundable!) if you want to continue to try and see if you can get a better deal. If you get to a point and nothing is accepting, at least you would have a nice property locked in.Please use the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Expedia links to start your purchases and searches.
Gallus50 Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Two things may be at work here. In NC, kids in traditional school go back on Aug 23rd, so end of summer trips may be happening. Also - people who have been scared away from the Gulf Coast have come over to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head. Because of this, deals seems to be much fewer and farther between than they were last summer.
