hrtworms Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 I started out wanting a 3.5* room in Durham, but the Millenium looked like the probable accepting hotel and it was not receiving favorable reviews. So Chapel Hill was the next closest choice. Just to experiment, I wanted to try for one of the 4* properties, bid $50, increased the area and bid $55, but neither were accepted. Since I really needed to have a room that night, I decided to bail out and try for the 3.5* Sheraton. What I did not realize is when I dropped my requirement from 4* to 3.5*, I could also drop the bid price. Otherwise, I would have kept bidding for a 4*!! Had I been certain I could lower the bid, I would have started with a lower bid. But, I didn't. $50 was bid on 3.5* Chapel Hill area, and that first bid was accepted. 7/21/10 - 7/23/10 This Sheraton was clean, refurbished, free WIFI with good bedding and was somewhat nearby to a lot of shopping, but this King room was very small, to the point of being uncomfortable. Let me repeat. SMALL. I have a feeling the 3* hotels in the area would have been a sound choice.I did use the PRICELINE link.
