chamiquefan Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 Hello. I am wondering if you can tell me what are the free re-bid zones for a 2.5 & 3 star hotel in the Disneyland area. Thanks, sydney
thereuare Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 We don't "give" re-bid zones on the board because they're subject to change and therefore users need to know how check them for themselves before each bid. We could post the zones right now, and although rare, you could bid it later tonite and one of the zones that we listed may no longer qualify. You'd then get a hotel in an area you don't want and be upset. We have posted details of how to figure out your re-bid zones in this PRICELINE POST and we will confirm your re-bid zones for you to make sure you understand them. If you read the prior link and still don't understand, there are instructions near the bottom for you to follow and we'll walk you thru step-by-step until you have an understanding. It's the old "give me fish / teach me to fish" scenario :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
chamiquefan Posted March 10, 2005 Author Report Posted March 10, 2005 Thanks for the tips. I just read over all the information and did what was recommended. According to my research, for a 2.5 star hotel, I have two free re-bid zones, one in Newport/Huntington Beach and one in Laguna Cliff/Dana Point. Is that correct? For a three start hotel, appears that I have a free rebid in Fountain Valley, Seal Beach, & Laguna Hills/Mission Viejo. Am I correct? Thanks, sydney
thereuare Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 You got the 3* re-bids correct... but you don't have any re-bids at the 2.5* level (although it appears you have the concept down). The 'flaw' in the 2.5* level is that although the zones you mentioned have no 2.5* properties, they do have 3* properties. The star level you select is the minimum that you are willing to accept, so by adding a zone that has no 2.5* but does have 3*, it's not a re-bid zone since Priceline can upgrade your 2.5* bid to the 3 star hotel.Hope that makes sense; if not, feel free to ask additional questions. If you'd like help with a bidding strategy please let us know. chamiquefan Posted March 13, 2005 Author Report Posted March 13, 2005 Thanks so much for all of your help. I now understanding the bidding process. By the way, I have been trying to get a 3 star hotel from April 7 to 11 but am not having any luck. A few months ago I was able to get Crowne Plaza for $38 a night. This time around I bid up to $60 with no such luck. Will try again in a few days.
thereuare Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 When hotels have increased occupancy, and in turn increased, rates thru the opaque services go up as well (or their access to inventory becomes somewhat limited). I checked one 3* hotel in this zone that is an often low acceptor and they're sold-out for your dates... indication that demand is likely up for this time period. HOTWIRE has what i believe to be the Doubletree in the Disneyland South zone for $75/nite, so i would be sure not too (over)bid more than this on Priceline.
