well changed our trip schedule so will do Philadelphia from the 7th till the 9th of September. not quite sure yet if I will book ahead of time or just see what I can get when I get there. Will keep an eye on the HOTWIRE offerings thru the link on this board.

If you mean look for a 'walk-in' rate i don't recommend that as the hotel knows you're not likely to travel from hotel-to-hotel and won't likely price their rooms too aggressively. As well, it's harder to find the time to research for the best deal when you're trying to get out and see the sites and make the most of your trip. If possible, i think it's better to book beforehand.
