saifoinnw Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 Began bidding at $105 for 4* in the Westminster zone. Regected. Did the rebid for a 4* and 5* same zone @ $110. Rejected. Then I did something interesting. I was shooting for this particular property because it is new and -based on Trip Advisor reviews- the rooms are on average larger. Heres how I circumvented the 24 hour rule.I did not want to respond to the priceline rejection by adding another zone (like Mayfair - Soho) because then I might win a 4* in that area (based on other bidders' response on the board). So, Instead of responding to the Priceline rejection I came back to this board and through the above widget entered a complete new bid @ $110 in the Westminster zone only for 4*, of coarse Priceline's response was that I already had a previous offer in that zone that won't expire for another 24 hours. However it only included the original bid "Westminster Zone 4*" and not the added 5*. So at this point I uped the price to $120 and added the 5* option for my rebid in the Westminster zone only and WALA! I won the park Plaza Wesminster Bridge, the hotel I was aiming for.I probobly went up to $120 a little to fast I could've uped it $3 at a time but I figured that the Bitish pound had appreciated over the past 10 days by about 5 percent and I also took into consideration the fact that the dates are smack in middle of the summer high travel season. Overall, I am very happy with the win, especially since the price is literally double on any of the reservation web sites (I will post again after I return to let the board know how the accomadations were). Thanks to all for your effort. Of course I used the above PRICELINE search widget to begin the bidding and then later signed into my Pricelin account only after it took me to the Priceline page.
