VARIDER Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 Won successful bid for $50 (2.5*, Nashville-Franklin) at Wingate/Wyndham. Being told now that to get 2 double beds (instead of 1 king) I would have to pay $40 per day extra (on top of my $50 bid). Priceline unable to help (contract is a contract is a contract). I don't mind paying a small upcharge ($10), but $40 is another matter indeed. Any suggestions on how to approach this?
AaronJB Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 PRICELINE only guarantees 1 bed/double occupancy. While one may request 2 beds, the hotel could say no, or charge a fee. That said, $40 is certainly unusually high, especially for a 2.5* property. Additionally - unless I'm looking at the wrong Wingate - I'm only seeing a $10 difference between two doubles and 1 bed rooms at this property. I'd call again and try noting that you're seeing a much smaller difference between a 1 king and two double room on the hotel website. If they still say $40, there's not much else you can do (although you could try telling PRICELINE that the property is trying to charge nearly double your bid price to get two beds, although that still may not get much of a result.)
