J-R Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Anyone bidding Summer WEs in Monterey will be familiar with failed bids, and I was looking for Sat-Mon, 8/7-10. I was able to snag a good priceline deal for Sunday and Monday at the Clement for $111/per/nite; however, Sat was a different story. Many properties weren't offering Sat due to Fri,Sat requirement and all the others were offering rooms at VERY high rates. As a matter of fact, the Clement was between $250-$300. Prices on vendor sites continued to climb over the past week on 3*-4* properties. An abbreviated failed bid history is listed below in the hope it helps someone. Ultimately I bought Sat at HI Express, Seaside for $120/per+ on IC's site using FF.Of course all of the MANY bids were via the PRICELINE link4*General Retail/Hotwire pricingClement - $335, (IC FF $251), Marriott - no rooms, Hotwire - $289, probably clement7/17 -Standard perm bidding (8x) $140-154, all failed7/20-Standard perm bidding (8x) $120-$160, all failed7/22-Standard perm bidding (8x) $140-162, all failed3*, 3.5*General Retail/Hotwire pricingMission Inn - $219, Casa Munras - no rooms, Hyatt Regency - $269, Portola - $278, Hilton Garden Inn - $206, Marina Dunes - no rooms, Embassy Suites - $2657/19-Standard perm bidding (8x) $80-$105, $124 offered at $104, all failed7/21-Standard perm bidding (8x) $90-$104, $120 offered at $100, all failed7/22-Standard perm bidding (8x) $95-$110, all failed
