604_lady Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I have been trying to bid on a Seaside Oregon hotel for several days. So far I am up to $65 a night, lowest star level 2 stars. Just wondering if anyone has ever used priceline to stay in that area, and if so what did they get a room for and what hotel.I am looking to go July 25 for 2 nights.Any help would be great! Thanks!PS: I have been thinking about splitting up my dates and booking seperately. Any suggestions? Also I have noticed whenever I book a room through priceline, after I also get an option in my email saying, would you like to extend your stay for the same rate ? Is this ALWAYS something they offer??
AaronJB Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Rates do vary by dates; these may unfortunately be busier dates in this area due to an event, convention or other activity. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay? Are there any options when searching on HOTWIRE?"Extend Your Stay" is a feature that can always be at least tried, but is not always available: the option may not be available, may be available for the same price or may require a higher price for the additional day/s. It all depends on hotel and time period.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
604_lady Posted July 24, 2010 Author Report Posted July 24, 2010 I was hoping to spend $80 a night for a 2 star or 2.5 star hotel. I have checked on hotwire and prices went up this morning! HOTWIRE rate is now $94 for a 2 star in Seaside Oregon. 2.5 star is $139. Both of these hotels come up as available on HOTWIRE.PRICELINE has 11 hotels in seaside available for my selected dates. 2 star price starts at $152 per night.Last night I bid again , raised my bid to $70 . Failed bid. PRICELINE says a recent customer bid $70 for a 2 * hotel in seaside. So maybe I am close???I can only bid one more time tonight, as I am leaving early the next morning. What would you suggest I raise my bid to? If its a failed bid I will try splitting the dates, or as a last resort use HOTWIRE :)
Romelle Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 There is a Motel 6 that shows up both on kayak.com and Motel 6 websites - $74. I'm not familiar with it, but it had a couple positive reviews on kayak. It also is on Priceline at $79 with some so-so reviews.Motel 6 is only a one star.I didn't go on into the fine print, but when I searched on "promo motel 6" there was a code that could be used for a 10% discount. It seemed to be working as far as I carried it on into the reservation process. Also, it would be a long shot, but wouldn't hurt to check the other hotel web sites directly. Romelle
thereuare Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 I can only bid one more time tonight, as I am leaving early the next morning. What would you suggest I raise my bid to?Since you have no time left to try again, i'd bid $10-$15 below which ever HOTWIRE hotel you would otherwise take... trying to save a little over your 'next best deal'... unless you're considering the Motel 6 referenced above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you ultimately end up doing for this stay or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
