lvanhoe Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Hi there,me and my girlfriend will be staying in Boston from 9/13 till 9/17. We were wondering what prices and area's we should try out while bidding on priceline, as we are from the Netherlands and don't really have a clue what would work. We have a rental car so i guess we don't really need to be in the most expensive area's. Our budget is up 100$ including tax/night and i think we want to go for 3* minimum. What would be our best shot at getting max value? I would love for you to suggest a bidding-plan with rebid zones as i've seen in other topics :)Thanks upfront, will use the forum-links of course.Ivo & Linda
scottlevin Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I question why you need a rental car in Boston. Parking is a pain, and even if you got a sweet 4* hotel in Copley or Quincy Market for a good price, you'd pay through the nose in parking fees ($30 or more). But then again, maybe you want to go to Walden Pond or something.

If you're planning to go see the rest of the state a few days, save yourself the rental fee and just rent it for those days. If you're not going to tour the state, public transportation in Boston is the easiest in the country and very very efficient - it is color coded! As for where to stay, I recommend either Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall-Financial district OR Copley Square-Theatre District. Both are in the center of much and close to all the things you're going to want to do.Hope you have a great time! Boston is the best city in our country in my opinion.
lvanhoe Posted July 28, 2010 Author Report Posted July 28, 2010 We are touring the entire eastcoast so that's why we planned on keeping the rental car for the entire period of 3 weeks, but i guess we can alter our plans if both Boston and Washington (as i've read) have very good public transport.I would still like to get a grasp on what bid/rebid prices and zones i should use in Boston. If one of the site-mods could suggest a plan here i would be delighted.

We would like to be in the centre of course, 100$ max before tax, 3* would be nice but we could settle for 2,5* if we have to.
lvanhoe Posted August 17, 2010 Author Report Posted August 17, 2010 Alright, tried rebidding up to 110$ for 3* in BHF CSTD and QMFH for a month now, no succes.Anyone got any idea what i should begin bidding for a 2,5*?
Romelle Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 On the screen for Boston bidding, there was a list of further out areas:Boston Metro - SouthBoston Metro-WestBoston North ShoreSalem, NH - Andover, MAMilford - Foxboro, MALeominster - Boxborough, MAWhen I clicked on one of them, I was then taken to a map showing its location in relation to the Boston area. I'm wondering if you would consider bidding in one of these areas? When you go to the list of hotels people have reported getting in Massachusetts several of these areas are on it. You could further do a Quick Search on "boston metro south" (leave out the dash) and see some bidding results. A link to one of them. where they have a 3.5* Hilton for $54.And you could also check some of the reviews in the Hotel Reviews area. Romelle
scottlevin Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Consider adding Cambridge or the Waterfront.
lvanhoe Posted August 26, 2010 Author Report Posted August 26, 2010 I added cambridge and waterfront, still no succes up to 110$ for 3*.Romelle, thanks for the tips. Do you (or anyone else) have any idea how traffic is to/from these area's and Boston? We are planning on keeping the rental car for our entire trip so travelling 20/30 minutes won't really be a problem, it's just that we won't want to get stuck in heavy traffic.Or, does anyone have any suggestions what to bid for 2,5* in Cambridge/Waterfront/BHF/CSTD/QMFH?
lvanhoe Posted September 8, 2010 Author Report Posted September 8, 2010 As it was impossible to find something with name your own price, we booked Days Hotel Boston - Harvard Fenway 3,5* through Negotiated deals for $120.76 (USD)/night.
