HoosierYankee Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 I just placed a bid of $79 on a 2.5* hotel in the Lake George - Glen Falls area on PL for 1 night 7/24 and it was rejected. Will try again in 24 hours.
thereuare Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Rates are quite high for this nite... i think you'll likely need to bid significantly higher. What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. HoosierYankee Posted July 22, 2010 Author Report Posted July 22, 2010 I think I could go as much as twice my original bid. I based my 1st bid on a May bid that I saw on the board.
thereuare Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Unfortunately you don't have any re-bid zones and not much time before your stay... what is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?Note that HOTWIRE has a 3* hotel offered in this area for $182/nite... the Tripadvisor reviews seem 'ok' with a 3.5/5.0 user review rating, but the 'hotwire recommendation' number is somewhat low at 65%... not sure if this is something you would conisder for just one nite or if you'd look elsewhere. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. HoosierYankee Posted July 23, 2010 Author Report Posted July 23, 2010 Hotels.com has a travel lodge 2* room for $129/$149. Expedia the same.
HoosierYankee Posted July 23, 2010 Author Report Posted July 23, 2010 I placed another bid for a 2.5* hotel for $129 but it was also rejected. I was planning on going to the Lake Placid Iron Man this weekend but everything looks to be booked up within 85 miles. I just might take a chance and drive up anyway looking for a hotel that had a cancellation. Thanks.
