ladybugsea Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 Looking for 4* Toronto South for 8/11-8/13. We are trying to join up with family booked at the Renaissance, but the rate there is very high so I know we won't get it on Pline (originally I was hoping to sleuth it out on Hotwire, but I see that wouldn't be possible to confirm, anyway). I am fine with any other 4* in the area, just hoping it has a pool (seems like they all do). I am worried because the rates for those dates seem a bit high: Sheraton 231 Hyatt Regency 205 Intercontinental 309Renaissance 409 (Can Fit conference)Westin Harbour Castle 259The Sheraton seems to come up a lot here for about $80. Is that too low for these rates? Where should I start? I am not willing to go too high (under 90 would be good), if anything I would consider 3* and a different location if necessary. I understand free rebids and I will use the BB link. Thanks!
ladybugsea Posted July 21, 2010 Author Report Posted July 21, 2010 Do the hotels/prices offered on Pline before you bid give any hint about what hotel you might end up with? Just want to check my free 4* rebid zones to make sure I have it right: BramptonBurlington - OakvilleDon ValleyMississauga Oakville - Mississauga South Scarborough - PickeringToronto East Toronto West Vaughan
vgacolor Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 There is no hint as to what hotel you will get. The only way is to look at the list kept in this website. However, one never knows if another hotel has joined in or if there is a hotel that has not been reported.Your rebid zones look correct. I am also looking for a Toronto hotel, but I will be there at the end of August and September. As of right now none of those zones seem to have 4 star hotels which means that they can be used for rebidding. One more thing, if you have already joined PRICELINE use the link in this thread to get $50 bonus cash that should help bring down the costhttp://www.betterbidding.com/show.php/showtopic/109162
robteb Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 HOTWIRE is currently offering a 4* for your dates for $104 which matches the Sheraton (among others), so I think you would probably get something on PRICELINE for around $90, especially with the bonus cash. You should be aware that some of the regular wins (e.g. the King Edward, the Marriott Yorkville) DO NOT have a pool. If that's an absolute necessity, you might be safer on HOTWIRE. Good luck and welcome to Toronto!!
ladybugsea Posted July 22, 2010 Author Report Posted July 22, 2010 vgacolor Thanks for the bonus cash info!! I have never had that before, makes it even better! I need to book 2 nights in Niagara Falls as well, I wonder if I can use it for that, too? robteb We can live without the pool, I'd rather save the cash.So then I start bidding $10 lower that I would have without the bonus cash? Can I start at $65 or is that just a waste of time?
ladybugsea Posted July 22, 2010 Author Report Posted July 22, 2010 Started at 80 (which includes the bonus cash) up to 90, all rejected. Also no mention of 'increase your bid by x'. What should I do? Bid through the PRICELINE link.
ladybugsea Posted July 22, 2010 Author Report Posted July 22, 2010 YES! $94 Hyatt Regency (including $10 bonus cash, so $84 for me). Perfect, it's near the Renaissance where our family is staying. Thanks to all of you, thrilled to be able to use the bonus cash! Could be totally coincidence of course.
