Marlon Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 Hello there. I am a newbie and have already booked the Sheraton for August 29th & 30th with my points card (I received 2 free nights). Although they blocked off the Saturday night. If I use HOTWIRE or PRICELINE what do I have to search or what should I include in order for me to get the best shot at booking The Sheraton for the 28th of August? I will book using your links. Thanks,Marlon
AaronJB Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)There is no way to guarantee a particular property via HOTWIRE or (especially) PRICELINE. The Sheraton was last reported as a 4* in the NMA-River North area on PRICELINE, but when bidding on PRICELINE, you could possibly get any participating 4* in the zone. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing a match for the Sheraton showing on HOTWIRE for this date.Additionally, not sure if you can cancel/change or if the two properties are the same Starwood point value, but I'd really strongly recommend the Westin River North; that's a beautiful property right on the river and near a lot of restaurants and nightlife in River North. I wasn't particularly fond of the Sheraton when I stayed there (just my 2 cents; it wasn't a terrible hotel by any means, just quite average.)If you were willing to move hotels on the first night, we would be happy to suggest ways to proceed on PRICELINE and/or HOTWIRE.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Please use the site's links in the support section if you do book the additional night regular rate.

Can you tell me which property this is? You guys rock. Thanks,M
AaronJB Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Happy to help! This would likely be the Hyatt. While not the Sheraton, it is literally across the river from the Sheraton. If you need to be at the Sheraton, it's awfully close.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Marlon Posted July 29, 2010 Author Report Posted July 29, 2010 Just to give you an update I have been bidding and searched for days. I originally wanted the 4* for $90 but PRICELINE wouldn't give it to me. I finally opened it up to the 3.5* and won the Embassy Suites Chicago Downtown for 3 nights @ $90.00 today. Staying for 3 nights August 26th to August 29th. I think I got a good deal, as the hotel includes breakfast and afternoon drinks at the bar. Plus I hear there is a Supermarket right across the street. Is this a good win Aaron?
thereuare Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you're pleased with the results and the deal you received.. free drinks and breakfast is always a nice bonus!I'm sure Aaron will be able to comment further on your win as well as stores in the immediate area. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
AaronJB Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 The Embassy Suites Lakefront has been frequently seen as a win in the last couple of years, but the other location hasn't been seen that much. It's nice to see the location on State start to appear again more recently, as that location is preferable from a location standpoint and a similarly excellent Embassy Suites property. I think you got an outstanding deal!
LizaM Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Hey Marlon!I just got back from a couple of nights at the Embassy Suites Downtown and it was a fantastic hotel! Huge rooms with fridge, microwave and sink, super friendly staff, the complimentary hot breakfast was great as well!! I wasn't around for the complimentary daily beverage though. Fantastic location!!
Marlon Posted August 9, 2010 Author Report Posted August 9, 2010 Thanks Liza. The hotel gets great reviews and I liked the location. Now all I need is a list of things to see and do while in the city. My wife and I are going alone for our 9th year anniversary. Can't wait!
AaronJB Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Happy Anniversary! :)Please let me know if you have any city questions and I'd be happy to help.
