ppfqp Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 3.5* Richmond (Downtown) Double Tree Hotel Downtown Richmond $497/21/2010 - 7/22/2010This hotel has terrible reviews on TripAdvisor, so I am a little bit scared. I was hoping for the Marriott or the Wyndham in Glen Allen. :) We'll see how it goes!

ppfqp Posted July 28, 2010 Author Report Posted July 28, 2010 For the price, it was fine. It ended up being very convenient to my daughter's camp at VCU. (Right down the street, actually.) The daily parking rate of $18 makes it not such a great bargain, but that cost is typical in the downtown area. It is an older building, but the room was comfortable and updated. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. Everyone -- from bellhops, front desk, maintenance, waitress -- was super friendly, helpful and polite. We had an issue with our tv reception; maintenance arrived immediately and resolved it. Every staff person that we met in the hall or the elevator greeted us in a very engaging way. That goes a long way!! There is free wifi. The rooftop pool is a little bit hard to access (only one of the elevators goes to the top), but we enjoyed a lovely sunset up there. Also, they have coke and pepsi products in the vending machine, although they alternate from floor to floor. I don't know why, but I liked that there was a choice. Few hotels offer both. Thanks for the help!
AaronJB Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Glad to hear that the stay turned out better than expected. I hope you were able to get a Doubletree Cookie at check-in, too! :)
