buteos Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 I'm not the moderators but I can try to answer some of your questions.First, I wouldn't strictly go by that hotel list. There are other hotels that come up. Yes there IS a downtown Buffalo with beautiful architecture but there aren't a lot of hotel choices. The Adam's Mark is closest to the lake front and HSBC Arena, but it's a real hike to the area where there's restaurants. I would strongly suggest not dropping down below 3 stars in downtown and no, I didn't see anything higher in downtown. Amherst has 3.5 stars. I personally have found it harder to get a nice airport hotel. I've gotten the Millennium which is considered a 3 star, but unless it's undergone major overhaul, is kinda a dump. Some of the airport hotels are located by the Galleria Mall, and the rest are on the street opposite the Buffalo airport. It all depends on what you're in Buffalo for, and what time of year. In the fall and winter, there are major league football and hockey games. (Go Bills!)HTH
zipruana Posted July 20, 2010 Author Report Posted July 20, 2010 Much appreciated Buteos! :)While we are on the subject of the great and beautiful Buffalo, any idea how far downtown Buff is from the Airport? East to get to by car?
buteos Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 The airport isn't REAL close to downtown, depending on which part of downtown you are talking about. But it is fairly easy to get to downtown from the airport by car. When I stayed at the Adam's Mark, which is right by the expressway, I believe people were saying it took ten minutes to get to the airport depending on time of day. I don't think most downtown hotels have shuttles anymore.
