I would like bidding strategy for Beverly Hills/WEst Hollywood for this Friday March 11. Ideally I would like the crown plaza which is a 3 star hotel, but a 4 star would be great. Want to pay under $100. Last time I did this got the Hyatt West Hollywood for $68 but thought I'd ask for help this time. Thanks

I think I'm a little confused about the bidding. Last time I bid $65 for a 4-star, rejected, then added 3 star and upped to $68 and got the Hyatt, which was fine. Actually I'd like the 3 star crowne plaza because it's walking distance to my daughter's apt which is impt. but I'm aware you can't bid for specific properties.

How do I lower a bid? If I start at say $75 for a 4 star, rejected, then can I lower the price and lower to 3 star? Would this be better than starting say at $60 for a 3 star? I certainly don't want to pay 4 star price for a 3 star property.

You can lower your price when you lower your star rating (and it's recommended that you do), as discussed in this thread: PRICELINE BIDDING TIP

We're not talking about a 3* hotel for a 4* price... we're asking if given the choice, would you prefer a 4* hotel for $100 or a 3* hotel for $75 (the prices here are ficticious, we're not suggesting that you bid these amounts, as we haven't had time to look at prices for your specific dates yet)

Well the most important thing was close to my daughter's apt. I was able to book a small boutique hotel near my daughters at an o.k. rate including breakfast so I did that so I won't use priceline this time. Thanks for your input.

The Carlyle--$119 and it includes breakfast. $11 to park if we need it. Most importantly it's walking distance to my daughter's house. I booked directly by calling, gave me a cheaper price than their web site.
