Priceline Hotel: 4* Monterey Marriott

I Wanted the Monterey InterContinental The Clement so I followed the persons post from yesterday.

This is what he had written:

Wanted Monterey InterContinental The Clement for 8/8/10-8/10/10

Research indicated it was offering the lowest 4* rates over time period:

-InterContinental site offered as low as $190/per

-Marriott site (for Marriott Monterey) offered as low as $229/per

-Hotwire offered 4* as low as $234/per, most likely Clement

Checked all 4 Monterey Priceline Zones to verify Zones WITHOUT Clement had highest level of 3.

Zone / highest level:

Zone1, Carmel - Carmel Valley: 3

Zone2, Marina - Seaside: 3

Zone3, Monterey: 4

Zone4, Pacific Grove: 2

Used PRICELINE link to begin each new bid

Bidding history went as follows:

1. Start new bid, select Zone3, select 4*, $90 -> rejected

2. Add Zone4, $93 -> rejected

3. Kill browser, start new bid, select Zone3+Zone1, select 4*, $96 -> rejected

4. Add Zone4, $99 -> rejected

5. Kill browser, start new bid, select Zone3+Zone2, select 4*, $102 -> rejected

6. Add Zone4, $105 -> rejected

7. Kill browser, start new bid, select Zone3+Zone1+Zone2, select 4*, $108-> rejected, $128 rebid was offered and I rejected

8. Add Zone4, $111 ---> won

But, when I rejected the 128.00 bid and did step 8 I didn't get anything. So, I quit and tried again with

Zone's 1-3 new bid at 115.00. it came back with an offer of 135.00 and I took it.

Monterey Marriott 135.00

It was not the original hotel I wanted but still a very good value. Thanks to the poster for all the above information!

This is an excellent deal for the Marriott, with regular rate for this date at $279.

Sorry to hear you didn't get the Intercontinental. PRICELINE availability and prices do vary for different dates of travel - what one poster may get for one set of dates often differs what another poster may get (in terms of price and hotel) for another set of dates.
