Priceline Hotel: hotels for xmas in new york

HI am planning around 2 weeks in new york 20th december to 3 rd Jan for 3 people ( 2 adults + 1 child (17) ) would like apartment style hotel with kitchen - (but kitchen not coming up as search function )

does anyone know what I will need to pay for that time of year , how best to search and when would be best to start searching - wanting to stay in times square or upper east side . 3.5- 4 star

Also would like to spend xmas and boxing day at hotel like the New York Palace how would I get the best price for this hotel or similar . Any other suggestions/ tips about coming to new work at xmas would be great - thanks

There are not too many common HOTWIRE listings that appear with kitchen, and they may not be showing for these dates, unfortunately.

Prices are uneven for this time period - rates during the time right around Christmas are reasonable, then the few days leading into NYE are busy, then the days directly after are reasonable again, and that may cause problems when bidding for the entire period.

The Palace has not appeared as a HOTWIRE or PRICELINE win, unfortunately. There may be a regular rate deal for at least part of this period; a possible idea would be to spend more on a hotel such as this for part of the period and save by spending less using HOTWIRE or PRICELINE for the other part of the period you are staying. This is just an idea, though.

Please provide further information - how many in your party and desired budget per night - and we would be happy to offer suggestions on how to proceed.

There are a whole series of sites under the Support/Travel Links tab just above on this page - Orbitz, GTA, etc. Try several of them, but also always check the hotel web site itself as sometimes they can have unadvertised specials.

In fact, for your longer stay, you might also consider contacting the hotel directly. They might be willing to negotiate a bit for sure longer term occupancy. Some hotels will do that.

There is also www.vrbo.com which is Vacation Rental By Owner. Always some interesting possibilities there.
