I've been trying to get this night for a few weeks already. After raising my bid up to 60$ for a 3* and still rejected, I decided to try at the 2* level aiming for the Fairfield Inn. Without rebid zones, I finally got to 50$ yesterday, which resulted in a counter offer at 60$ (did not take it). So today I went up halfway to 55$, and surprise, upgraded to the 3* I bid 60$ for 2 weeks ago.
