Hi i'm new on the forums.

I've been looking at PRICELINE (using the link on the forums) for the following dates 9/10-9/13 and haven't had any luck.

I'm bidding on 3* places.

I really want to stay close to the central park area so i'm looking at UWS, UES, CPS, MTW, TS

I tried bidding 140 with no luck.

Any tips?

Ideally i would like to spend less than 160 per night.

I really would like to stay a walkable distance(less than 1.2 miles) from central park area.

Last time i visited(Nov. 2009) I stayed at the Belleclaire for $127 per night and walked through the park every day and loved it.

As i've been reading seems like September prices would be higher than November so i am prepared to pay a bit more.

I don't know the city TOO well, i've only been there twice.

I think your budget is going to be a bit tough for these dates... we could suggest a strategy for the zones you indicated ( UWS, UES, CPS, MTW, TS) for a 3* hotel, but please first confirm that you're ok with the entire UWS and UES zones, as you could end up in the low 100's (street number)... is this acceptable?

So 160 is too low for these dates, alright i'll consider that.

The low 100's is a good point, I would not like to be that far away from times square area. So last time I was at 77th, so i'd like to be around there or closer. So would you recommend i take UES and UWS off the areas i'm willing to stay?

When you use PRICELINE you much be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone... the UWS zone extends as far north as 106th St while the UES extends as far as 94th St. Iif you're not willing to stay this far north then i would exclude these zones from your bidding.

Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

Thanks for all the help I decided to upgrade to 4* and MTE as my preferred place and used the rebid zones. (if someone could update my thread title to help other people that would be great)

I got the Intercontinental Barclay for $270 which isn't the slickest of deals but since it's going for $383 on their site it will do.

Thanks again.

Congrats on your success. :)

Sorry to hear that the result was more expensive than hoped, but overall a very nice deal for September, which has proved to be a particularly busy/expensive month this year.

Thank you for sharing your win.
