canadianbullfan Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Hello there,Taking a vacation with my two brothers between August 14th and 17th.See a 4.5 star hotel for 135$ a night. It's been fluctuating somewhat, and have seen it down at $119..Amenities are : Smoke free, Restaurant, Business Center and High Speed Internet Access.Last time I was in the Mag Mile area and really want to be in that area again. Pretty flexible with where abouts exactly.Do you think this is the James or Intercontinental? Also, if anyone knows any great deals for Mag Mile area, (particularly the Drake), I'd greatly appreciate it!I'll definitely use this site's links when I make the purchase.
AaronJB Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Good afternoon. :)Do you have any interest in switching hotels? There's sort of an interesting deal if you're willing to break up your stay for 8/14-15 and 8/15-17.Otherwise, the above 4.5* is likely the Intercontinental. I'm guessing rates for the 14th may be a bit higher due to the air/water show (which is worth checking out if you are looking for something to do; it's not far North of the NMA area, along the water.)Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
AaronJB Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Interesting deal:When searching for 3 on 8/15-17, there is a 4* in the NMA/WT/GC area w/Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa for $109. This would likely be the W Lakeshore. When searching for 3 on 8/14-15, there is a 4.5* in the Mag Mile/Streeterville area w/ Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Spa for $159, which would appear to be a match for the James.$377 divided by 3 nights - $125 and change.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Definitely wouldn't mind doing a switch. What is the deal? Also, I'm a little nervous that we might only get one bed. But if we specify 3 adults, they have to at least provide two double beds right? Thanks again for the quick response!
canadianbullfan Posted July 13, 2010 Author Report Posted July 13, 2010 Wow, that sounds great! I'll definitely check that out and let you know what happens and use the links on this site. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Thank you for keeping us updated. In terms of bedding (from HOTWIRE): "All rooms booked on Hotwire will accommodate the appropriate number of guests in each room, based on the total number of guests you provided and the number of rooms you requested. Some of our hotel partners allow you to reserve your beds (e.g., king, queen) at the time of booking. Look for this indicated in the search results. If this option is not available, please contact the property directly. While we cannot guarantee that your request will be accommodated, our hotel partners will do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible."If you indicate 3, the hotel will likely offer 2 beds or 1 + sofabed or another combination. If not, I would call HOTWIRE and see what they can do.
canadianbullfan Posted July 14, 2010 Author Report Posted July 14, 2010 Perfect, thanks!I was going to ask what your opinion was on the $99/night 3 Star in Mag Mile/Streeterville area for 3 people between August 14 and 17.It has workout facilities, pool, restaurant, business, laundry and high speed internet access. Do you think it sounds like Mart Plaza?Your help as always is TREMENDOUSLY appreciated!
AaronJB Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 This would likely be the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza. It's on the West border of the zone; there is not a lot directly around the hotel and that area will likely be a bit on the quiet side at night. However, the restaurants and the nightlife of the River North area are not a very far walk (and an even quicker cab ride) away. There is also an "L" station right there, as well, which can head South to the Loop or North (to the Lincoln Park area, for example.) Not sure what you are looking for in terms of the stay, but the Lincoln Park area is a nice place to stroll around and offers a lot in terms of restaurants and nightlife, too. This Holiday Inn property also got a renovation in the last couple of years. (see story)It's not optimally located, but it's not a bad deal in terms of just needing a place to sleep. Additionally, while HOTWIRE or PRICELINE reservations are not eligible for upgrades, many rooms here do offer river views and you may be able to upgrade for $10-20 per night (although I'd just ask if any rooms facing South are available first.)Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
canadianbullfan Posted July 20, 2010 Author Report Posted July 20, 2010 Just an update: Been patient with this trip, and finally a 4 1/2 star came down again to $119/night.I now see a 4 1/2 star hotel for the August 14th-17th with: Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High Speed Internet and Spa.Do you see this being anything other than the James? I think I'm going to jump on it, but just wanted to double check! :)
AaronJB Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 This would be a likely match for the James. A little surprising that it appears to come up with the same rate when searching for 2 or 3 adults. Either way, certainly an excellent rate.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
canadianbullfan Posted July 20, 2010 Author Report Posted July 20, 2010 Got The James for 119 and used the HOTWIRE link on your site to start it up. Thanks again so much!
AaronJB Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 Congrats on your success!Phenomenal deal for the James! Glad you are pleased with the deal, as well - very nice hotel and location couldn't be better.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's HOTWIRE link.Enjoy your stay.
bouche Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 Got The James for 119 and used the HOTWIRE link on your site to start it up. Thanks again so much!I'm curious to find out how the James stay was. I just got a room thru priceline there for $162. A little more than you paid, but I'm hoping that it'll be worth it.
